What PPWR changes
The regulation replaces the previous packaging directive and applies directly in all member states. It harmonises requirements on packaging composition, recyclability, reuse and labelling.
What a pallet supplier should be able to provide
- a declaration of conformity of the packaging with PPWR,
- compliance with the heavy metals limit (lead, cadmium, mercury and hexavalent chromium together at most 100 mg/kg),
- technical data on the pallet and its material.
Drevinslovakia issues a PPWR declaration of conformity for its pallets. On request we also provide a heavy metals declaration, a recyclability statement and a technical data sheet.
What buyers face from 2030
From 1 January 2030, companies using transport packaging, including pallets, must ensure that at least 40 % of it is reusable within a reuse system. Transport between sites of the same company, between linked companies or within one member state faces a stricter requirement. By 2040 the target rises to 70 %.
EUR pallets are exchange pallets designed for repeated use, which makes them a natural choice when moving to reusable packaging.
Our recommendation
Ask your pallet supplier for a PPWR declaration of conformity, and plan for reusable pallets when preparing packaging for 2030 and beyond. If you need documents for our pallets, contact us.
